LARGE SIZE SCRIMSHAW CARVED WALRUS TUSK. One side engraved with four scenes that include a female portrait within an oval frame, full female portrait of a lady holding a parasol while reaching out to a bird. Above her head is the name "SUSAN". Above her name is a starboard view of a steam and sail ship that is flying 3 banners and a flag off the stern. The top with an image of a cat with several kittens. Has red polychrome coloring scattered throughout. 24" long. Fine condition. Nice age yellow patina. Circa 1860.
