EXTREMELY LARGE SPERM WHALE TOOTH SCRIMSHAW DECORATED ON BOTH SIDES. Front with a port view of a bark under sail. Above the vessel is a large floral motif with two palm trees in the background. Reverse with a port view of a large, double deck, warship under full sail. Above the vessel is a circular, leafy vine motif. The entire base is wrapped with chevron and other type designs. 8 1/2" tall x 3" wide. Mounted on a very simple wood base. Condition fine with a light, even age patina throughout.  An impressive, 19th century, tooth.
