LARGE PAIR OF BEAUTIFULLY MADE WHALEBONE RIGGING BLOCKS. Each double sheave block measures       5" tall x 3 1/4" wide x 2 1/4" thick. Very heavy weighing just a fraction under 2 lbs each. Nicely chamfered shells held together with boldly peened bronze rods. The axle for the whalebone sheaves also peened bronze. Condition superb with each having acquired a light yellow patina. I have a family letter stating they were made by Captain Jeregan of Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard, MA. There were two Jeregan brothers that were whaling captains,  Jared and Nathan. Because of who these descended to it's most likely the pair originally came from Nathan. From my personal collection.
