BEAUTIFULLY ENGRAVED SCRIMSHAW TOOTH with polychrome colored female portraits on both sides. Front with a large image of an elegantly dressed seated female with a banner below lettered with the name  "Kate Hares". The reverse with another female portrait. Above her is a drapery type swag and a large burst of flowers and leaves.                                7 1/2" h. x 3 1/4" w. Condition excellent. Beautiful golden age patina throughout. This is a very nice scrimshaw tooth.
