Description

19TH CENTURY SCRIMSHAW TOOTH ENGRAVED BOTH SIDES with colorful depictions of young girls. One side with a full portrait of a girl wearing an off the shoulder evening dress while holding a bouquet of flowers. The reverse with a very well dressed young girl riding a pony. All the engraved work boldly colored in shades of red, blue, gold and black. 5 1/2" h. x 2 1/2" w. Condition excellent noting typical but sound age cracks in the very bottom. Nice age patina throughout. The open end filled with old plaster(easily removed if desired) that was used to hold the tooth on a base. A very pretty tooth.
