BEAUTIFULLY CARVED, 19TH CENTURY, SHIP'S FIGUREHEAD depicting a young female dressed in regency era attire. Her hair done in very detailed, short ringlets and held back in a bun. The v-neckline of her blouse softly pleated and enhanced with a set of red pearls. The dress with a ribbon border and a diamond shaped piece of jewelry in the center. The base carved with classic scroll and leaf motifs. Condition excellent. 36" high. One of a collection of four female figureheads we recently purchased from a collector who acquired most of them in the 1960's. They were professionally repainted over the years using a palette of soft, pastel colors. Represents the the work of a ship carver with above average carving skills.  SOLD
