Captain's Razor Set
Description

ELEGANT CASED SET OF STRAIGHT RAZORS WITH CAPTAIN AND VESSEL NAMES. Each fitted with meticulously carved ivory handles that are decorated with proud silver pins. The 5 3/4" long blades are etched one side with port view of paddle steamship "VICTORIA". Reverse of each etched within frosty panels with the name "Captain W. H. Draper". Blades also stamped with a crown over "WR" and maker's name "Joseph Rodgers & Sons/Cutler's to Their Majesties/No 6 Norfolk Street/Sheffield". Overall length when open 10". Original maroon leather storage case with red velvet interior. Condition near mint noting one small, expertly done, repair to the very tip of one of the ivory slab handles. This exact pair of razors illustrated on page 374 in Norm Flayderman's book "The Bowie Knife Unsheathing an American Legend". Beautiful quality throughout.  The vessel and captain were known on the Britain to Australia route, circa 1855.
