standing young girl in a very colorful evening dress. She is holding a bouquet of
flowers in her hand. Reverse with child dressed in fancy riding attire while seated
sidesaddle on a pony. All work boldly colored in red, green, blue, gold and black.
5 1/2" tall x 2 1/2"wide. Condition excellent. Fine age color. Circa 1860.

*214. HALF HULL OF 19TH CENTURY SCHOONER YACHT "ORELIA". Nice
large model of handsome sailing yacht designed with long over-hanging stern and
plumb bow. Multi-lift construction that is fitted with stem, keel, rudder and two truncated
masts. Has top rail and nice carved details along sheer which also has applied gilt line that terminates at
stern with scroll designs. In original finish having black topsides and natural finish below waterline. Model
length 48". Mounted on original green backboard that has
routed edge and vessel name applied aft of stern. Condition
excellent with all original surfaces showing nice age color
and desirable crackelure throughout. "Orelia" was an 85'
wood schooner built in 1880 by Ratsey & Co., West Cowes.
Her homeport was Cowes and the owner was Edward B. Forbes. A great looking vessel.

Overall length 44". Width of triangular shaped
head 4". Has illegible mark stamped into one
side of head. Open cone that is integral to the shaft. Condition excellent. A fine 19th century American har-
poon in desirable long length.

*216. SCRIMSHAW CANE WITH ROPE TWIST CARVED WHALEBONE SHAFT. Overall length 36". Six-
sided whale ivory handle that is tapered and decorat-
ed with molded details at top. Very end has a silver
inlay. 3 1/2" l. section where handle and shaft join
nicely inlaid with 7 pieces of tortoise shell. There are also three washers made of baleen and whale ivory.
Condition excellent. Nice quality. Circa 1850.

*217. LARGE SINGLE SAILOR'S SHELL VALENTINE. Was once part of a double
valentine. 13 3/4" wide octagonal wood box. Very nicely executed with array of colorful
shells forming five flowers and numerous designs all surrounding a large heart in the
center of the box. Condition excellent throughout. Box in dark finish and original var-
nish nicely aligatored from age. This is a very pretty 19th century valentine.

Very interesting all mahogany construc-
tion with lower portion having incised lines to depict plank-
ing while upper 1/3 is actually planked. Beautifully fitted with
stem, keel and rudder. Top has bow-chock, main-rail and
planksheer. Model length 26". Mounted on original mahogany backboard that has beveled edges. Overall 8
1/4" x 30". Condition superb with everything in original natural finish that has acquired wonderful age patina
throughout. A very attractive model.

*219. SCRIMSHAW TOOTH WITH FEMALE PORTRAIT. Engraved one side with 1/4 view of a
young woman with her hair swept up under a fancy hat of the period. The upper part of her
dress is decorated with a large ribbon that is tied into a bow. 5" tall x 2" wide. Condition fine.
Great age patina. Circa 1860.
