*148. RELIC SNUFF BOX WITH INSCRIPTION ON GOLD DISC. 3" diameter oak
box that is fitted on inside of the lid with a 1" diameter gold disc that is beautifully
engraved with inscription "H.B.M.S./VICTORY/Trafalgar/21 Octr 1805". Top of lid has
small round finial that caps the pin that holds the inscribed disc in place. Condition
very good noting lid has some age cracks. Exact piece illustrated page 113 in
Klamkin's book "Marine Antiques". Rare to find gold on any relic.

*149. RELIC FROM ILL FATED "DUNBAR"....KNOWN AS THE AUSTRALIAN
TITANIC. Heavy bronze cup with beautifully engraved inscription
"Made from the Bolts of the ill fated Ship/DUNBAR, J. GREEN COMMANDER/ Wrecked on the
South Head of Port Jackson/during the Stormy Night of August 20th 1857/when all on Board
perished except one Seaman/Sydney, N.S. Wales". 4 1/2" tall x 2 3/4" diameter. Condition very
good noting a that mouth of cup slightly misshapen. Bronze with nice mustard patina
throughout. The 19th century ship Dunbar catered to wealthy travelers going from Britain to
Sydney. 121 of 122 aboard lost their lives as a result of her disaster in 1857.

*150. INKWELL MADE FROM TIMBER SALVAGED OFF ROYAL
YACHT OSBORNE. Very nicely turned into the form of a ship's capstan.
Upper drumhead portion pivots open for access to porcelain cup that
holds ink. Inset into very top of cover is an engraved disc with inscription
"Souvenir/Made from Timbers/of the/Royal Yacht/OSBORNE/George Cohen, Sons & Co".
Also has plaque affixed to front of beveled base "Presented By/George Cohen, Sons/&
Company". Capstan diameter 3". Base 4" x 4". Overall height 4". Condition very good
noting a small chip missing from top edge of barrel which is on backside and hidden
under pivoting top so barely noticeable. Nice quality item.

*151. CANNON MADE FROM "ROYAL GEORGE". Nicely turned, 6 1/2"l.
naval style cannon barrel with engraved inscription "Relic of Royal
George/Sunk 1782 Raised 1840". Oak naval carriage fitted with four wheels,
side rings and straps for holding trunnions in place. Condition excellent.sold
*152. "ROYAL GEORGE" RELIC WITH SILVER
INLAYS. Nice oak snuff box with hallmarked silver insets in top of lid. Around
border is engraved inscription "Relick of the `ROYAL GEORGE' 104 Guns". Disc
in center marked "Sunk 1782". Still has original hand written note inside that
explains "The wood of this box was got up from the Royal George....". Diameter 3
1/4". Condition excellent. This is the nicest quality Royal George snuff box I've
come across. These relics were made around 1840 by the firm E. & E.
Emmanuel who were Goldsmiths to the Queen.

*153. 19TH CENTURY TOOTH WITH WHALING AND BATTLE SCENES. Am quite sure this is an earlier
piece of work done by artisan referred to as "Naval Engagement Engraver".
One side with whaling scene showing port side of whaleship flying blue house
flag with letter "B". In foreground are several longboats engaged in Sperm
whaling. Reverse with several naval ships in battle. Along the bottom edge is a
Sperm Whale. Nice blunt tipped tooth measuring 5 3/4"l. x 2 1/4"w. Condition
excellent noting that battle scene somewhat lightly engraved but all visible.
Desirable age color throughout. We sold this tooth back in 1983(catalog 17, lot 30) and recently purchased it
back from that collector.

*154. 19TH CENTURY SCRIMSHAW COCONUT DIPPER. Slightly
curved, octagonal shaped, tropical wood handle with whale ivory fittings.
Where handle joins bowl there are one ivory and two baleen spacers that
separate the heart shaped piece that attaches to coconut shell. End fitted
with baleen spacer that separates carved and incised whale ivory finial.
Shell with deep incised line carved into top rim. Overall length 15".
Condition fine. Circa 1850.
