*7. 19TH CENTURY SCRIMSHAW TOOTH WITH AMERICAN SHIP. Nicely shaped, near
solid tooth that measures 5 5/8"l. x 3"w. Handsomely engraved one side with port view of
ship flying American flag and long naval pennant. Flag, pennant and billet head all with
red and blue polychrome coloring. Above vessel masts is depiction of clouds. Condition
excellent. Desirable age color throughout. A very attractive scrimshaw tooth.

*8. CASED MARINE CHRONOMETER. 56 hour. The 4 1/2" diameter silvered dial fully
signed "The Northern Goldsmiths Co./Newcastle upon Tyne". Also has serial number
"1000". Roman numerals. Blued steel hour, minute, second and
up/down hands. Works marked with serial number and English
broad arrow. Fully brass bound mahogany box with multi pointed
inset escutcheons, a brass shield in the top lid and a blank ivory
plaque affixed to front. Flush mounted brass carrying handles on
sides. Box size 7 1/4" x 7 1/4" x 7 1/2". Also has original, dove-
tailed mahogany, outer storage case. Condition of everything fine. Has quite a bit of
paperwork with it including correspondence with National Maritime Museum and a
quality chronometer shop that serviced it back in the early 1990's. Has Kullberg's
auxiliary compensating balance. This chronometer was purchased by the Royal
Observatory, Greenwich in April 1918. Condition of everything fine. A quality
chronometer that keeps great time.

*9. ATTRACTIVE 19TH CENTURY HALF HULL made using nine mahogany and pine lifts. Overall length
including attached bowsprit 33". Has stem, keel and rudder
pieces fitted to model. Upper shear area with very nice
stepped and shaped details. All in original natural varnish
finish. Mounted on original backboard that has period paint
and molded edges. 12 1/2" x 39 3/4". Condition excellent.
Nice age color and surface. Handsome vessel.

*10. EARLY BRASS BARRELED SEA SERVICE BLUNDERBUSS. Lock signed "BUMFORD". 16"l. cannon
turned barrel deep stamped on top with maker mark "IB" below a fleur-de-ly. Also stamped with date mark of
circa 1740. Brass furniture including trigger guard, ramrod
sleeve, side plate and flat butt plate that wraps over the
top of the stock. Overall length 31 1/2". Stock also deep
stamped with broad arrow and date "1805" which would
denote year it was taken in by British Government for the
navy. The maker, John Bumford II worked from 1735-1775.
Condition overall excellent. This exact gun is illustrated
on page 91 in Warren Moore's book "Weapons of the American Revolution". A nice early example.

*11. PAIR OF SCRIMSHAW TEETH WITH WHALING SCENES. Each tooth
measures 7"l. x 2 3/4"w. One with stbd view of whaleship cutting in and
hoisting up large blanket of blubber. In foreground three longboats pursuing
Sperm Whales. Other tooth with port view of vessel and in foreground three
whaleboats chasing Sperm whales. Condition very nice noting 19th century
chips missing from back of each tooth(not noticeable when viewing pictorial
sides of teeth). Fabulous age patina throughout. Circa 1840. We originally
sold these teeth in 1984(catalog 18, lot 35) and recently purchased them
from that collector. A handsome pair of teeth with desirable whaling scenes.
