*93. ALL WHALEBONE FOOD CHOPPER. Nice early piece with dual tapered handle sim-
ply decorated with eight incised lines. Chopping blade and tang made from single piece
of panbone. 6 3/4" tall with 5" wide blade. Has old faded writing on one side of blade
that is only partially legible. Condition excellent. Desirable age color throughout.
Scarce scrimshaw kitchen tool especially all in bone. Circa 1850.

*94. MODEL 1861 AMERICAN NAVAL CUTLASS. Blade marked with stamped anchor
over "USN/DR/1862". Slightly curved 26" blade with broad fuller running 2/3 of length.
Made by Ames Co. but their marking not visible. Front section of brass guard marked
with serial number "24M243". Brass cup
riveted to guard. Leather grip lacking
brass wire. Scabbard not original but is
19th century replacement hand sewn from green colored sail-
cloth that is reinforced top and bottom with thick brown
leather. Overall condition good. Hilt was heavily lacquered during use to prevent tarnishing. Lacquer now
with dark patina and with some flaking in exposed areas. Overall a good Civil War cutlass.

*95. RELIC NAVAL CANNON FROM NELSON'S FLAGSHIP FOUDROYANT. Beautifully made with nicely
shaped, heavy copper barrel that is bored, vented and retaining most all
of its original finish. Barrel length 11 1/2" with diameter at muzzle 1 1/2".
Mounted on a handsomely carved oak carriage fitted with four wheels.
Edging on both sides of carriage rope twist carved. One side has copper
plaque with raised lettering "MANUFACTURED FROM THE/OAK AND COP-
PER SALVED/FROM NELSON'S FOUDROYANT". Other side with relief
carved letters "COPENHAGEN/1801" within an oval panel that has rope
carved border. Overall length 12 1/2" x 7" high. Condition excellent hav-
ing just negligible blemishes. Great quality item.

has incised lines decorating its entire length. Very end carved into round-
ed, bun-shaped design. 1 1/2" diameter serrated, whale ivory wheel.
Overall length 6". Condition fine and entire piece has acquired a very
deep, desirable age patina. Circa 1830.

*97. FINE EARLY SCRIMSHAW PIE CRIMPER. Handle very well made
made using six separate pieces of whale ivory each of which is nicely
turned and incised and joined together with silver and ebony spacers.
Very end carved into mushroom shape. 1 3/4" diameter serrated, whale ivory wheel. Overall length 6".
Condition fine. Has acquired a most amazing deep, dark age color throughout. Circa 1830-40. Superb exam-
ple of an early type crimper.

*98. SCARCE COPPER WHALE OIL BAILER with a portion of the original wood pole still attached. 9" diame-
ter x 7" deep copper bowl with rounded rim. Long
iron shank with pole socket on one end and circu-
lar iron ring for attaching to pot on other end.
Length 38" plus 28" section of 1 3/4" diameter pole
making overall length 66". Condition well used but
very sound throughout. Iron with brown patina and copper with deep green age color. A rare piece of 19th
century whaling gear.
