vessels and other designs of American historical interest.
*25. LIVERPOOL PITCHER WITH POLYCHROME AMERICAN SHIP. One side deco-
rated on cream-colored body with hand colored port view of sailing ship flying
large American flag. Below the water is vessel name "CRITERION". Reverse side
with a large black transfer of Masonic designs. Below the spout within a circular
border are fancy initials "R*H/F". The sides of the handle, top and bottom edges
and around the spout have simple, black line, striping. Height 8". Condition very
good. Three vessels from this period are listed with the name "Criterion". They
were built in 1796, 1807 and 1811...unless the initials can be tied to one the three
there is no way to be sure the exact ship depicted on this pitcher.

*26. PORT VIEW OF AMERICAN BRIG "TWO POLLYS"
in polychrome coloring on one side of this cream-col-
ored pitcher. Reverse side with large black transfer depicting a monument to
George Washington with portrait bust facing to left and Washington's birth and
death dates below. Above and below scene in ribands "WASHINGTON IN
GLORY/AMERICA IN TEARS". Under the spout within a circular border is initials
"R F*PJ". Below that The Seal of the United States depicting an Eagle with banner
marked "E. Pluribus Unum". Height 9 3/4". Condition very good with some
professional restoration in spout and top rim areas. The 110 ton brig "Two Pollys"
was built 1791 in New York.

*27. LIVERPOOL PITCHER WITH LARGE POLYCHROME
TRANSFER OF AN AMERICAN SHIP. Depicts port view of
vessel under sail with cannon, anchor, drum, sword, trident, etc below the water.
Along the bottom "SHIP FANNY, JAMES BRADBURN". Reverse with large black
transfer depicting young woman waving from shore to an American ship that sails
away. Below is caption "FANNY'S FAREWELL/Adieu she cry'd and wav'd her Lily
Hands". Below the spout is an American Eagle/Seal of the United States. Nice large
size measuring 10 3/4" tall. Condition very nice with some professional restoration
along the top rim and spout areas. Three ships from this period are listed with the
name Fanny, they were built between 1792 and 1809.

*28. POLYCHROME VIEW OF AMERICAN SHIP "THE
MERCUREY". Cream-colored pitcher 9 3/4" tall. Reverse
with large black transfer having bust of George Washington in center surrounded
by an American Indian and figures Liberty and Justice. Bordering the entire scene
is a chain of 15 states. Below the spout within a floral border is name "MARY
CLARK". Under the name an Eagle/Seal of the United States. Condition excellent.
There are six ships named Mercury built between 1794 and 1806.

*29. AMERICAN SHIP "SOUTH CAROLINA" depicted in
polychrome coloring on one side of this creamware
pitcher. Reverse with patriotic monument to George
Washington with his birth and death dates and slogans
"First in War First in Peace First in Fame First in Virtue". Scene surrounded by
names of the 13 original states with Kentucky substituted for Rhode Island.
Under the spout in an oval border "A MAN/without example/A PATRIOT/without
reproach" Below that the initials "H E" within an acorn and leaf border. Below the
handle an American Eagle/Seal of the United States. Height 10 1/2". Condition
