*6. FULLY DETAILED WHALEBOAT MODEL. Very nicely made in large size measuring 30" long. Would guess
it dates from the 1940's. White painted hull with grey along sheerstrake/rub rail. Interior ribs and planks
light blue color with natural finish seats, floor boards,
centerboard trunk, etc. Outfitted with dozens of pieces
of equipment including rudder & tiller, steering oar & 5
pulling oars, loggerhead, bailing and other buckets,
compass, waif, harpoon, killing lance, boat spade, main
and spare line tubs, water keg and other barrels, pad-
dles, whale line, hatchet, etc. Nicely mounted on a
mahogany base that is decorated with oil paintings of
whaleship and globe on each end. In center is carving of a Sperm Whale and a harpoon. Overall condition
very good. Paint and wood all with nice age color. Model sat for years in an old collection and is somewhat
dusty but would clean up with minimal effort. A nice example that shows good honest age.

ENGRAVER. Beautifully engraved both sides with one view depicting two
vessels engaged in battle with guns firing and smoke billowing between
their hulls. Reverse with classic
whaling scene showing port view of
whaling bark that has four long-
boats engaged in Sperm whaling.
Vessel flying large house flag with
letter "B". Water on both sides col-
ored in greenish blue. Also red coloring in the water around a Sperm
Whale that is being captured. Flags on battleships colored red. Length 6 1/4" x 2 1/8" wide. Condition fine.
Has custom made display stand with oval shaped mahogany base that has a nicely routed edge. Classic 19th
century tooth by this well known and highly skilled artisan.

*8. PRESENTATION BAROMETER ON SUPERBLY CARVED OAK STAND. Circa 1899-1900. All brass case with
5" diameter, white porcelain, face marked by important maker "MARINE ANEROID BAROMETER/MADE BY/
DOLLOND/LONDON/No 588". Dial also specially marked with presenter's
info "THE/SHIPWRECKED FISHERMAN & MARINERS/ROYAL BENEVO-
LENT SOCIETY/26 Suffolk Street/Pall Mall East, S.W." All this surrounds
the Society's house flag. Overall diameter 6 1/4". Barometer rests in cus-
tom carved oak stand done with two stylized dolphins holding the barom-
eter with their tails. The base is multi-tiered with nicely routed edges and
a carved rope border that has leaf decorations on the corners. 16"l. x 11
1/2"h. x 4 1/4" deep. Condition of everything superb. Oak with original,
natural varnish, finish. Have a copy of the Society's quarterly
statement/booklet dated June 30th, 1900 which notes under "Recent
Proceedings of the Society" that "As a reward for long and energetic serv-
ice as Hon. Agent at Waterford, Mr. Edward Jacob has been presented by the committee with an Aneroid
Barometer, mounted on a stand of carved oak". A most handsome nautical item that I liked so much I kept it
in the house nearly 10 years.

*9. NAPKIN RING MADE FROM WOOD OF ENGLISH NAVAL VESSEL. Nice relic made of teak and brass sal-
vaged from H. M. S. Ganges. Diameter 2" x 1 3/8" thick. Has a brass
plaque attached with raised lettering "H.M.S. Ganges...Built at Bombay
1821...The Last Sailing Vessel to Serve as Sea Going Flagship...".
Condition fine.

*10. MINIATURE FISHING WINDING BOARD MADE OF BONE. Probably
made to be child's toy. Thin piece of 1" x 2 1/4" bone with u-shaped cut
outs at each end for holding fishing line in place. At end of line not
attached to board are two nicely made bone pegs that have two holes
where line passes through loosely enough that they can slide or adjust
to different area on the line. Each peg 2 3/4" long. Condition excellent. Fine age patina. An interesting and
charming 19th century toy.
